Our practice
Independent. Local. Accountable.
We're not a national chain and we're not owned by a hospital system. That gives us room to do the work the way we think it should be done — answer the phone on the second ring, run quality controls every shift, and call your provider directly when something looks off.
Most of our staff have been here a decade or more. The lab director who reviews your specimen probably trained the technologist who drew it. The same person who orders our reagents knows your insurance plan. That continuity is the whole point.
We test about 600 patients a day across four locations. Behind every result is a real human running quality checks, signing reports, and answering questions when providers call back with follow-ups.

1972
Founded in Cedar Rapids
Dr. Mark Weland opens a single-room clinical lab serving three local family practices.
1984
First reference partnership
Begins handling overflow chemistry and hematology for St. Luke's Hospital.
1996
Czech Square location opens
Second draw site opens to serve southwest Cedar Rapids residents.
2008
CAP accreditation
Earns College of American Pathologists accreditation, expanding into surgical pathology.
2015
EMR integration
HL7 result delivery rolled out across all major regional EMRs.
2021
Marion location opens
Fourth location opens, bringing total daily capacity to 600+ patients.

Every result is reviewed against quality controls before it leaves our lab. We'd rather take an extra hour than send out a result we're not sure about.
Patients are people
A blood draw is rarely the highlight of someone's day. We try to make it the easiest part — short waits, gentle sticks, and someone who'll explain what's happening.
Fast where it matters
Stat orders processed in 60 minutes. Routine results back same-day or next morning. Your provider shouldn't have to chase us.
